As a member of the OSSTF Active Retired Members (ARM) Plan,
how do I benefit from using Pharmex?

As a plan member you typically pay 15% or 20% of medication cost plus all of the dispensing fee. When you use Pharmex, you pay only 10% plus our low $6.75 dispensing fee. Click here for more information.

Who can use Pharmex?

Anyone having a prescription written by physician licensed in Canada may have his or her medication dispensed by Pharmex. We accept all major drug plan cards.

How do I register with Pharmex?

Complete our secure enrollment form. It's that simple!

Is there a cost to enroll?

No. Enrolling with Pharmex is no different than enrolling with your local pharmacy.

Is there a cost for delivery?

Prescriptions delivered in Ontario are shipped at no cost to the patient. Packages being shipped to Canadian provinces outside Ontario are subject to a delivery charge by weight if the medication value of the package is under $50.00.

Is my information secure?

Your patient information is kept on our secure pharmacy dispensing system and is fully confidential. Our privacy policy can be viewed on this web site.

How can I contact the Pharmacist?

Personal, professional, confidential counseling is available from our pharmacists Monday through Friday 9 am-5 pm Eastern Standard Time. You may leave a message at any time of day or night and our pharmacist will return your call during regular business hours. Is Pharmex the best choice for all of my medications?

Pharmex specializes in maintenance or long-term medications. If you have a prescription for an acute care need, an antibiotic for example, we will advise you in the best interest of your patient care, to have it filled locally.

What is a maintenance medication?

Maintenance medications control chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, cholesterol and depression. They are prescribed by your physician for extended periods of time.

How do I order my prescriptions?

The first time your doctor writes a prescription for a medication you have not previously taken, simply have him or her fax or telephone the prescription to Pharmex using the 1-800 numbers shown below:

Can I fax a prescription myself?

In accordance with Provincial regulations, Pharmex cannot accept a fax from a patient.

How do I order my repeat prescription?

Requests for repeat prescriptions can be ordered on-line using the Pharmex Repeat Prescription Form. Repeat requests can also be phoned in to the Pharmex Customer Service toll-free 800 number, or faxed to Pharmex Direct by your physician on our toll-free fax line. The numbers are:

What if I already have some of my prescription filled at my local pharmacy? Can I transfer those to Pharmex?

Yes. When you enroll complete the Request for Prescription Transfer section at the bottom of the enrollment form, or simply call, fax or e-mail us with the prescription number, and the pharmacy name and phone number and we'll do the rest.

How quickly are my prescriptions delivered to me?

Your prescriptions are processed and delivered within 24-48 hours of receipt. Longer delivery times may occur for packages delivered to Canadian provinces outside of Ontario. Delays may occur if the pharmacist needs clarification from your physicians office or yourself or if the prescription requested does not have a repeat remaining.

How are my prescriptions delivered?

Your medications are delivered in a discreet tamper-resistant package with no identifying marks as to the contents or source. In the 401 corridor (Oshawa, Niagara Falls, Windsor), deliveries are made within 24-48 hours via bonded courier. Outside the 401 corridor, Pharmex uses Priority Courier and Xpress Post Courier from Canada Post. Fedex and Purolator are used for time/temperature sensitive medications.

Can Pharmex fill my prescription regardless of where I live?

Yes. In accordance with Provincial Law, we can fill all prescriptions written by physicians who are licensed in Canada.

Is a signature required for delivery of my package?

Yes. As of June 4, 2008, the law will change. All medication delivered to a patient will require a signature by the patient or an agent designated by the patient. We will be upgrading the delivery of all packages to Priority Courier and utlizing email addresses to notify you that your package is on the way.

What if no one is home to receive the delivery?

Priority Courier will leave notice that a package is available for pick-up and signature at your local Post Office.

How do I pay for my medications?

The enrollment process gathers all relevant information to fill your prescription including company benefit plan, Ontario Drug Benefit Program (ODB), drug card number, credit card number, etc. If you have anything to pay it is applied to your credit card at the time your medication is leaving the pharmacy.

Can other members of my family join even if they are not associated with my benefit plan?

Absolutely! We accept all major drug plans and welcome all your family members and friends to be a part of our great service!
